Gunungkidul Farmers Can Now Report Sick Animals via Application, No Longer Need to Come to the Office

KabarJawa.com – The Gunungkidul Regency Government launched the Livestock Report application as a digital-based animal health service to make it easier for farmers to report the condition of sick livestock and speed up treatment by veterinarians.

The launch was carried out on Wednesday (28/1/2026) and is part of strengthening digital transformation in the livestock sector.

Digitalization of Animal Health Services

The Livestock Report application is designed to connect breeders directly with the Gunungkidul Regency Agriculture Service.

Through this application, farmers can submit livestock condition reports, submit consultations, and receive follow-up without having to come to the service office.

Gunungkidul Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih explained that the application system works by scanning bar codes that have been installed at a number of points.

After the code is scanned using a smartphone, the report will be entered into the system and connected directly to animal health officials.

“Farmers simply scan the barcodes that we install at various points. This system is similar to the Gunungkidul tourism information service and is directly connected to the Agriculture Service,” said Endah at the launch.

Through this mechanism, veterinarians can immediately receive reports, carry out initial analysis, and determine treatment steps before the disease spreads or causes livestock death.

The regional government targets this application to increase the speed of response to animal disease cases and reduce livestock death rates. The digital-based reporting system is considered capable of shortening coordination time between breeders and field officers.

This service transformation is also expected to support increasing the productivity of people’s livestock and strengthening regional food security through better monitored animal health management.

Supporting Innovation in the Livestock Sector

Apart from application development, local governments also encourage the use of appropriate technology at the farmer level.

One of them is through processing cow dung into organic fertilizer as part of managing livestock waste and increasing economic value.

The use of feed cutting tools was also introduced to help farmers prepare feed in a finer size so that livestock can consume it optimally and reduce wasted feed.

“We see firsthand the benefits of this tool. Cows can consume feed well, and farmers become more efficient,” said Endah.

Through the implementation of the Livestock Report application and other supporting technology support, the Gunungkidul Regency Government targets improving the quality of animal health services, efficiency of livestock management, and strengthening the competitiveness of the smallholder livestock sector.

This program will continue to be developed as scanning points expand and the capacity of field officers increases. (ef linangkung)
