KABARJAWA – The Yogyakarta City Government continues to show its seriousness in maintaining the availability of blood stock for the safety of the community. Not only relying on hospitals and PMI, the municipal government is now cooperating with the private sector to play an active role.

Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta, Wawan Harmawan, emphasized that the business world not only acts as an economic driver, but also as an important part of strengthening social solidarity.

“We express our appreciation and gratitude to the private sector who have taken the initiative to hold free blood donations and health services. This is not only a form of social care, but also a tangible manifestation of the business world in strengthening solidarity in the community,” said Wawan.

Wawan stressed that blood needs always increase in every hospital, both government and private. He reminded that blood is one of the medical components that cannot be produced artificially, so that it can only be obtained from the concern of others.

“With the support of various parties, blood stock can be more guaranteed to help patients in need. This activity saves the lives of many people, as well as foster a spirit of togetherness in the community,” he said.

Wawan also tried the free eye check service provided by the committee. He felt firsthand the benefits and assessed that health activities such as blood donors are very important for the community.

“I feel the benefits of this free service for myself. Hopefully this kind of activity can continue and feel more people,” said Wawan.

Hotels provide free health services

General Manager of Malioboro Hotel Jogja Hotel, Maria Veronika, revealed that his party not only wanted to hold blood donations alone. Hotel management presents various additional health services so that people really feel the real benefits.

“We want this activity to have broader benefits. Therefore, in addition to blood donations, we also work with health partners to provide additional services such as eye examination, free glasses service, and vision consultation. All of these services are provided free of charge for participants who are present,” explained Maria.

Maria hopes that this kind of social activity will not stop as a ceremonial event, but can be a sustainable agenda. According to him, collaboration between the business world and the government is able to build positive traditions that are rooted in society.

“We hope that this activity can be a positive tradition, not only in our hotel, but also in many other institutions in the city of Yogyakarta. With togetherness, we can maintain the health of the public while fostering the spirit of solidarity,” he concluded.
