Digital Traces Open a Syndicate Veil
Officers initially found Facebook accounts that offer a SIM creation without the need to go through official procedures. The syndicate admin linked WhatsApp number to communicate with prospective customers.
The police then disguised themselves as the customer and were asked to send data in the form of a photo of a KTP, signature, to a half -body photo.
After the data is received, the perpetrators edit and print a fake SIM as if the original National Police output. The SIM price varies, ranging from IDR 650 thousand to IDR 1.5 million, depending on the type
. The customer can even choose the Cash On Delivery (COD) payment system, where the SIM is sent through an expedition service with a neat -closed package.
“From the results of the examination, the perpetrators sell fake SIMs at the lowest price of Rp650 thousand for SIM C and the highest Rp1.5 million for the General B2 SIM. Everything includes shipping costs,” Kompol Riski explained.
This syndicate works systematically. The admin team created advertisements on social media, the Customer Service Team accepts orders, the editor team processes the customer data, and the production team prints a fake SIM. After that, the goods are packaged and sent to the destination address by utilizing courier services.
The perpetrators even mimic the original SIM design of the National Police. However, they cannot fake important details, such as holograms with the words “Indonesia”, “Driving License”, and the Polri logo that only exists in the original SIM.

They are threatened with criminal penalties for up to 6 years in prison.
“This case is a warning for the community so as not to be tempted by instant SIM offers. Buying illegal documents is not only legal risk, but also endangering the safety of the highway,” said Kompol Riski.
Important Messages for the Society
This case confirms that the ease of technology in the digital era brings an increasingly complex threat of cyber crime.
The offer of official documents instantly on social media is almost certainly illegal. The community must be vigilant and verify before trusting advertising circulating.
The police continue to strive to maintain security, but public participation is needed to break the chain of crime.
Awareness not to buy an illegal SIM will be an important step for the creation of traffic order and joint security on the highway.
