KABARJAWA – Regent of Gunungkidul, Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih, SE, MP, continues to move quickly and firmly in preventing drug abuse among teenagers.

On Monday (6/16/2025), he visited Patuk 1 Public High School to voice resistance to drugs and invite students to become the first fortress against the latent danger.

The Gunungkidul Regency Government through the National Unity and Political Agency (Kesbangpol) held a socialization activity for prevention, eradication, abuse, and illicit trafficking (P4GN) as part of a systematic effort to fortify the younger generation.

The Regent went directly to the field. He did not remain silent seeing the reality of the increasingly widespread drug targeting teenagers.

He chose to go to schools to dialogue, inspire, and open student insights about how dark the road offered by narcotics.

In his remarks that were full of enthusiasm and firmness, Regent Endah called on the importance of building a fortress of personality from an early age.

This stimulates student awareness to strengthen their mentality and maintain physical so that they are not easily tempted or fall into adolescents.

“The younger siblings must build a soul and body. Build a strong mental body. Build a physical body with a healthy physique. Do not give room for drugs into your life,” said the Regent in a firm tone.

Drug prevention measures in Gunungkidul Youth

He advised students to channel energy, courage, and existence to a positive path. Various activities such as sports, martial arts, to participation in the championship are the space for healthy and proud actualization.

“If you want to show yourself, show it through achievement. Enter martial arts, such as karate, boxing, or other branches. Moreover, soon Gunungkidul will host Porda. It’s time for Gunungkidul children to show off and make this area proud,” he added with full motivation.

In his statement, the Regent also revealed the real dangers of drugs. He described drugs as a shortcut to the destruction that often started from trial and error, then transformed into addiction, to damage the future.

“Drugs will not solve the problem, actually exacerbated. Once you enter, you will find it difficult to get out. Addiction will paralyze enthusiasm, weaken the character, and open the way to crime,” he said.

The Regent did not stop there. He invited all students to become agents of change, pioneers of anti-arms in their respective environments.

He encouraged them to increase their capacity, spread positive energy, and transmit the spirit of away from drugs to his friends.

“Upgrade yourself. Be a young man who has more value. Be a pioneer in your respective regions. Drug-free life is the foundation to reach a brilliant future,” he exclaimed with sparkling eyes.

He also left a deep message about the importance of choosing association and active in positive activities. Gunungkidul students should not only be academically smart, but also skilled in leading and inspiring.

“Choose a building who is constructive. Organizes. Train yourself to be a leader. Be a young man who has a differentiator. In this life, you need differentiation to win,” he said, staring hopefully at the ranks of students.

The Regent also said that with knowledge and insight that continues to be honed, a good future is not an empty dream.

He believes that the young generation of Gunungkidul is able to prove its capacity if they distance themselves from drugs and embrace knowledge as the main weapon.

“Science makes us grow. The knowledge that we update continues to facilitate our lives. Then learn, continue to learn,” he said.

This socialization activity did not take place ordinary. This activity illustrates the full concern of the government towards the future of Gunungkidul children.
