Kabarjawa- Yogyakarta City again carved an important history on the journey to the City of Food Safe. In 2025, there were only three schools that succeeded in holding the title as a healthy food pilot school, and one of them was SMP Negeri 12 Yogyakarta.

The determination is not just a ceremony, but also celebrated with concrete action: fruit eating campaigns, drinking milk, egg festivals, to nutrition education for students, school committees, and student guardians.

The atmosphere in the yard of SMP Negeri 12 Yogyakarta on Tuesday (10/9) felt different. Children cheered happily, their small hands holding fresh fruit that was distributed for free.

The teasing boiled egg aroma smells from the egg festival, while the warm cups are neatly presented for students.

All elements of the school, ranging from teachers, committees, to student guardians, unite in a big movement: instill awareness about the importance of healthy food from an early age.

The Head of the Yogyakarta City Agriculture and Food Office, Sukidi, emphasized that this step was a long -term strategy.

He said since 2025, the Healthy Food Program was officially under the auspices of his official, after being handled by the Health Office.

“The approach that we take is to strengthen the basis of food security in schools, families, and children. Because food circulation is very much, while the detailed rules about the limits of certain sodium or preservatives are unclear, we need to educate so that schools and parents are able to maintain the consumption of children,” said Sukidi.

Sukidi added, this program was not only limited to a day campaign. The Yogyakarta City Government intensified counseling, education for 7, 8 and 9th grade students, as well as coaching for parents, school committees, traders, and canteen managers. All lead to big ideals: Indonesia’s advanced Indonesia and Indonesia 2045 through healthy food.

Not all schools can hold the title of Healthy Food Pilot School 2025. Of the hundreds of schools in the city of Yogyakarta, only three have escaped: SMP Negeri 12 Yogyakarta, SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3, and TK Negeri 6 Yogyakarta.

The assessment factor is not playing games. The Department of Agriculture and Food is strict monitoring of the school canteen. From the results of monitoring, the Yogyakarta 12th SMP Negeri canteen is healthy, clean, and well managed.

However, Sukidi reminded that there are still other schools that need to review the type of food, so that it is truly in accordance with healthy food standards.

The head of SMP Negeri 12 Yogyakarta, Abdurrahman, could not hide his pride. With a trembling voice, he said that this predicate is not the result of engineering, but a healthy culture that has been around for a long time.

“Alhamdulillah, our school is believed to be a Yogyakarta Health Food Pilot School 2025. In our school we are like this, which is traded in the canteen is not made up because there is this program. We also always appeal to the guardians of students to provide healthy food,” he said.

The determination of SMP Negeri 12 Yogyakarta as a healthy food pilot school in 2025 is not the end, but the beginning of a big movement. The Yogyakarta City Government believes that big changes always start from small steps.

The movement of eating fruit, drinking milk, until the egg festival may look simple. But from that simplicity, a new generation was born who was more aware of the importance of nutrition, stronger facing the challenges of the times, and was more prepared to meet the future.

In the midst of the swift flow of fast food and instant snacks, these three healthy food pilot schools stand as fortresses.
