According to the Sultan, resolving legal conflicts must involve fair, open and equal communication mechanisms, especially at the grassroots level.

“I asked the Regional Secretary to try to communicate with the Legal Regional Office. Yes, the Legal Regional Office, because some time ago the Minister of Law came here to inaugurate legal assistance at the sub-district level,” stressed the Sultan.

The role of Posbankum

Sri Sultan hopes that the legal aid team at sub-district level will be able to carry out a strategic role as a fair and balanced mediator.

Sultan considers that the team has an important position to open dialogue between parties, while preventing legal conflicts from developing into more complex problems.

“I hope that the teams in the sub-districts can participate in mediating the dialogue on this issue. Yes, how to resolve it. Yes, we’ll see together,” continued Sultan.

Sultan also emphasized the importance of cross-institutional synergy in village legal aid services. He reminded that Posbankum involves various elements of law enforcement, from the prosecutor’s office, courts, police, to legal aid organizations.

“The team includes the Prosecutor’s Office, the Court, and so on, there is the Police, and so on, which is for the legal assistance that was declared yesterday for the village. Yes, I ask that they can also be part of bridging that dialogue,” said Sultan.

Sri Sultan HB Previously, the DIY Government had inaugurated 438 Village/District Legal Aid Posts spread across five districts/cities.

The inauguration took place on Tuesday, January 20 2026, at the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel, Sleman. Gunungkidul Regency recorded the highest distribution with 144 posts, Kulon Progo 88 posts, Sleman 86 posts, Bantul 75 posts, and Yogyakarta City 45 posts.

This Posbankum service is supported by 26 accredited Legal Aid Organizations and hundreds of certified paralegals. They are ready to provide legal assistance to village and sub-district communities.
