JFW 2025 officially began in JEC, Deputy Governor of DIY emphasized innovation and local identity


Jogja Fashion Week celebrates 20 years with the theme “Threads of Tomorrow”, unite Indonesian fashion traditions and innovations.

Javanese news – Jogja Fashion Week (JFW) 2025 was officially opened, confirmed its existence for two decades as one of the most prestigious fashion stages in Indonesia.

This year, the celebration is not just the 20th birthday, but also the momentum to highlight the new direction of the fashion world that is more inclusive, creative, and environmentally friendly.

Held on August 7-10 at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC), this event presents more than a thousand fashion works from hundreds of homeland designers.

A total of 96 professional designers, 12 young designers, and dozens of children’s fashion designers participated in 10 fashion show sessions that combine elements of tradition and innovation.

The stage of creativity and the future

The opening of the JFW 2025 was marked by an official remarks from the Deputy Governor of DIY, KGPAA Paku Alam X, who expressed his appreciation for the contribution of JFW in driving the local creative industry sector.

“Jogja Fashion Week is proof that innovation in creating can be a future node. Hopefully JFW can be a leap to the global stage without leaving identity,” Paku Alam X said in his speech.

Carrying the theme “Threads of Tomorrow”, this year’s JFW illustrates the expectations of the future of fashion that upholds the values of sustainability and openness to technology, without leaving the roots of local culture. The traditional threads are knitted with digital and futuristic nuances, creating collections that are not only beautiful, but also full of meaning.

The implementation of JFW 2025 is a collaboration between the DIY Industry and Trade Office and various strategic partners. The Head of Service, Yuna Pancawati, SE, M.Sc, emphasized that JFW was not just a fashion show, but a comprehensive fashion industry development platform.

“We are targeting 5,000 visitors and transactions worth two billion rupiah. In addition to the fashion show, there are also business talk and MSME exhibitions that we hold as part of the creative ecosystem,” Yuna explained.

The series of JFW events did not stop at the catwalk. There are seminars, talk shows, Young Fashion Designer, Business Matching, Tour de Expo, to Shop Talk competitions that provide space for interaction and education for industry and public players.

JFW also begins with pre-events such as audition models and promotional campaigns that are held collaboratively, strengthening the role of various sectors in supporting the DIY fashion industry.

Central government support and export potential

The Indonesian Ministry of Trade through the Directorate General of National Export Development also provides support for JFW. Fajarini Putra Dewi, a representative of the institution, expressed his confidence in the competitiveness of local products.

“Textile and garment products from JFW have high competitiveness. We are ready to help connect selected brands with buyers from Italy and Taiwan,” Fajarini said.

He also noted the growth of Indonesian textile exports by two percent compared to the previous year, signifying the great potential to expand the local fashion market to the international arena. According to him, JFW has the potential to be not only a storefront of creative work, but also learning space and capacity building for industry players.

Fashion exhibitions and business opportunities

One of the highlights in JFW 2025 is the presence of more than 130 curated tenants that exhibit various fashion products and accessories by the nation’s children. This exhibition is a place for interaction between designers, buyers, and the public, as well as opening opportunities for sustainable transactions.
