Hundreds of students were disqualified, parents felt they were victims of the system

Javanese news -The selection process for new student admissions in 2025 through the affirmation pathway in the Special Region of Central Yogyakarta was in the spotlight after 139 students who had been declared to have passed were suddenly declared dead.

This incident triggered the disappointment and anger of a number of parents who felt that they had been dropped unfairly by the system they called problems.

One of the students’ parents submitted complaints directly to the media crew. He admitted that he had never entered data as a beneficiary, but the system automatically placed his child in the affirmation path.

“I do not enter any data. I do not have a letter of poor letter. But after registering and printing data, I appeared as an affirmation,” he explained on Thursday (3/7/2025).

Trying to find clarity, he went to the Office of Education, Youth and Sports (Disdikpora) Office of DIY on Monday, June 30, 2025. There, he received an explanation that the affirmation status came from social service data.

“I explained, how come I was like this? I was wrong input data or what?

However, only two days later, his son was disqualified from the system unilaterally. This made him devastated and felt treated unfairly because he was accused of cheating, even though he felt he had never manipulated data.

“I was pressed to resign, but I did not want to. I am not a data manipulation, I am a victim of the system. I want to improve my name because it has been called (called) cheating. I will continue to advance,” he said.

Similar concerns are felt by many parents

This polemic is not only experienced by one or two parents. Many of them feel that the SPMB system of the affirmation path that is run is still not ready and full of gaps in the data verification process. Some parents even urged that related agencies be more careful in managing sensitive data.

“We represent parents hope that the Social Service and the Education Office will be more careful in preparing the system. This is sensitive data, concerning the future of children,” said the parents of other student guardians.

Not only that, they also strongly protested the emergence of a public statement that said there was a “139 affirmation of the bulging”, because according to them the accusation was very baseless and injured the dignity of families who had followed the rules.

“If you want to make a statement, use data. Don’t just accuse. We never manipulate data. We only accept a system that automatically places us as affirmations,” he added.

Disdikpora DIY Gives clarification and solutions

Responding to a widespread polemic, the Head of Disdikpora DIY, Suhirman, explained that this issue was triggered by data renewal from the Social Service.

On March 27, 2025, the data used still showed the validity of 139 students as recipients of affirmations. However, after the data update on May 29, the names are no longer registered as recipients of assistance.

“Of the 139 students, 88 has completed the requirements documents,” Suhirman said.

He said that as many as 88 students succeeded in completing the documents needed to remain recognized as affirmation participants. However, 51 other students did not complete the document, although they still wanted to continue to the destination school.

In response to the polemic that occurred, his party together with related parties opened a special path for the 51 students, so that they could continue their education in public schools.

“What is clear is that this is not an affirmation path, so that later we might find a name together,” Suhirman said.

He also emphasized that coordination with the Directorate General of Education has been carried out to find short -term solutions, especially so that affected students can continue to continue their education without the affirmation label.

Evaluation of DIY DPRD: Need to consolidate across agencies

Chairman of the DIY DPRD Commission D, RB Dwi Wahyu, stated that this incident must be an important lesson for all parties, especially in terms of cross -agency coordination.

“In my opinion, this is our fault. Consolidation between OPDs such as Dinsos and Disdik must be done earlier. I apologize,” he said.

He hopes that this event will be a momentum of comprehensive improvement in the new student admission system. The system used in the future must be more transparent, accurate, and not corner any party.

Chaos in the selection process of the SPMB 2025 affirmation pathway in DIY became a hard alarm for the world of education.
