KABARJAWA – A proud achievement was born again from the city of students. The Yogyakarta City Government through the Department of Youth and Sports Education (Disdikpora) gave a special award to three state junior high schools that successfully penetrated the top 10 of the national outstanding schools.

This award was given based on the official data of the Talent Management Information System (SIM) of the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), which recorded the number of most outstanding students throughout Indonesia.

Three schools that are consistent in the national top

The Head of Yogyakarta Disdikpora, Budi Santosa Asrori, said that the award fell to SMPN 5 Yogyakarta, SMPN 12 Yogyakarta, and SMPN 8 Yogyakarta.

These three schools succeeded in maintaining the consistency of achievement until they survived in the ranks of the top 10 nationally even though the ranking in SIM Talent continued to move due to data updates.

“We only give this award this year. The goal is clear, as a form of appreciation and motivation so that schools in the city of Yogyakarta are increasingly encouraged to excel,” said Budi, Monday (11/8/2025).

Academic and non -academic achievement is a measure

Budi explained that this assessment was purely based on the achievements of the achievements of students at SIM Talenta, which contained the curtain results of the National Achievement Center of the Ministry of Education and Center.

These achievements include academic fields such as the National Science Olympiad (OSN), the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN), and the National Student Arts and Literature Competition Festival (FLS2N).

“This data spurred us all. Schools and regions must continue to show their achievements. Hard work is key,” Budi said.

He added that the success of students could not be separated from the role of the teacher and parental support. He hoped that this award could trigger other schools in Yogyakarta to compete in a healthy to improve the quality of education.

SMPN 12 YOGYAKARTA: Research Schools that harvest achievement

One of the recipients of the award, SMPN 12 Yogyakarta, appeared prominent with his identity as a research school since 2022. The head of SMPN 12, Abdurrahman, revealed that most of his students’ achievements were born from the field of research.

“We once led students to become the champion of international research competitions in Bali. In addition, children also achieved achievements in the field of sports, such as the Gala of National Students and O2SN. We selectively include students in competitions that have been curated at the national level in order to have a direct impact on SIM Talenta rankings,” Abdurrahman explained.

The role of parents and boss bosses of achievement

Abdurrahman emphasized that parents were fully involved in the coaching process, including providing moral support and sharing costs for competition purposes.

According to him, achievements not only make students proud, but also bring financial benefits for schools.

“Last year we received a school operational assistance (BOS) achievement of around Rp. 25 million. This year it rose significantly to around Rp87 million as student achievement increased,” he said.

The achievement BOS funds are used as fully to support the development of competitions, competition preparation, and student potential assessments.

“Even one rupiah may not come out of the pathway improvement,” said Abdurrahman.
