After Replacing 30 Beach TPR Officers, Gunungkidul Targets Tourism PAD of IDR 36.4 Billion in 2026

KabarJawa.com – The Gunungkidul Regency Government has set a target for Regional Original Income (PAD) from the tourism sector at IDR 36.4 billion in 2026.

This target is an increase compared to the previous year and was set after the regional government carried out an evaluation, including replacing 30 beach levy collection point (TPR) officers.

In 2025, the Gunungkidul Regency Government is targeting tourism PAD of IDR 33.5 billion. However, the realization achieved was only around IDR 30.4 billion or a difference of around IDR 3.1 billion from the target.

This condition prompted the Gunungkidul Tourism, Creative Economy, Youth and Sports Department (Disparekrafpora) to develop corrective steps to increase revenue performance.

Secretary of the Gunungkidul Disparekrafpora, Eko Nur Cahyo, said that his party is trying to strengthen the management of levies, especially in coastal areas which are the main tourist destinations.

“We don’t want to miss this year’s target again. We are preparing various efforts so that tourism PAD of IDR 36.4 billion can be achieved,” said Eko.

According to him, the strategies taken include increasing tourism promotion, organizing various events, as well as improving the levy collection system in the field.

One of the steps taken is the replacement of 30 coastal TPR officers in early 2026.

This change, continued Eko, is not just a rotation, but part of an effort to improve the performance and integrity of officers so that levy collection is more transparent and accountable.

“We are also tightening supervision to prevent potential leaks,” he said.

Disparekrafpora plans to carry out regular unannounced inspections of all coastal TPRs, both day and night.

Apart from that, supervision will be strengthened by installing surveillance cameras or CCTV at a number of TPR points.

Apart from the revenue target, the Gunungkidul Regency Government has also increased the target for tourist visits in 2026 to 3.2 million people. This target is higher than in 2025 which is set at 3.1 million visits. However, last year’s realization was recorded at around 2.8 million tourists.

The chairman of the Gunungkidul DPRD, Endang Sri Sumiyartini, encouraged the regional government to continue optimizing the potential of PAD, especially from the tourism sector.

“Income can still be increased, so performance in the field must be truly optimal,” said Endang.

He considered strengthening PAD to be important amidst the central government’s budget tightening policy.

With strong PAD, regional governments are considered to have more freedom to carry out development programs.

Endang also reminded that optimizing income should not only rely on the tourism sector, but also explore the potential of other sectors.

“The potential for PAD must be optimized in all sectors, not just tourism,” he said.
