The acquisition of zakat semester I 2024 reached Rp4.85 billion, Yogyakarta City Baznas affirmed transparency and digitalization became the key

KABARJAWA- The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Yogyakarta City again recorded a brilliant achievement.

This note is not only a statistical number, but a concrete proof of how public trust flows profusely to the Yogyakarta City Baznas.

Acquisition of Semester Zakat I 2024

This government -owned zakat gathering agency succeeded in recording the acquisition of zakat in the first semester of 2024 to Rp4.85 billion. Of that amount, Rp4.05 billion has been distributed to Mustahik in accordance with the provisions of Asnaf.

Even more surprising, until August 2025, the total collection of zakat has penetrated more than Rp6 billion or equivalent to 60 percent of the annual target. The target of 2025 itself is Rp11.7 billion.

Deputy Chairman II of Yogyakarta City Baznas, Abdu Samik, emphasized his optimism when holding a press conference at the Yogyakarta City Informatics and Communication Office, Thursday (4/9). With a face full of confidence, he conveyed a strong message to the public.

“Alhamdulillah, the acquisition of zakat until August has been more than 60 percent of the target. We are sure the target of Rp11.7 billion this year can be achieved, even exceeded,” Abdu said.

He stressed that the surge in zakat did not come just like that. Transparency and digitalization of services are key factors that strengthen public trust. The digital system makes the zakat process run fast, accountable, and easily accessible to anyone.

“Alhamdulillah, with the support of the community and the synergy of the city government, the collection of zakat in Yogyakarta continues to grow positively. In the future, we will strengthen the role of zakat to support the poverty alleviation program,” he said.

The Head of Yogyakarta City Baznas, Misbachrudin, also reminded that the distribution of zakat put forward the principle of prioritizing Yogyakarta residents. When other institutions can channel zakat out of town freely, Yogyakarta City Baznas are different.

“Our principle is to prioritize the people of Yogyakarta itself. Because in every region there is already a Baznas with their respective authorities,” he explained.

However, Misbachrudin did not close his eyes to challenges. Many muzakki live outside the city, but pay zakat through the Yogyakarta City Baznas. Not infrequently they hope that the zakat they refer to will also be felt by residents around their domicile.

“There was once a case of zakat we channel it out outside the city, we are reprimanded. Therefore, now we are more disciplined according to regulations,” he said.

Zakat distribution scheme

Yogyakarta City Baznas distributed zakat with two schemes. First, consumptive, in the form of food package assistance and emergency needs. Second, productive, namely zakat directed to build the future of the community through the creative economy and education.

Scholarships are the main program. BAZNAS supports elementary and junior high school students through spiritual strengthening, religious activities in schools, scholarships for memorizing the Qur’an, cadres of youth mosques, to children of underprivileged families.

In addition, assistance is provided for honorary teachers in private and non-ASN schools, including support for teacher professional education costs (PPG). Not stopping there, Baznas also finances BPJS Employment contributions for religious social workers.

“Yesterday, we completed 500 premium payments for the mosque marbot. The quota then we added to 800 participants for religious social workers, including Ustaz, Islamic Boarding School employees, and da’wah activists, especially those who were less able,” said Misbachrudin.

The success of the Yogyakarta City Baznas managing zakat funds cannot be separated from the principle of openness. The public can access reports, see the distribution flow, to monitor the impact of zakat directly.
