KKN Mercu Buana University provides free health check services for Imogiri Market traders

Javanese news – Real Work Lecture Team (KKN) Group 128 University of Mercu Buana held a free health check service for Imogiri Market traders, Bantul Regency, on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

This activity offers blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, gout checks, and health consultations free of charge.

Since opening at 09.00 to 11.00 WIB, the program was welcomed enthusiastically by traders who rarely have time to check their health conditions.

The head of the KKN 128 group, Meidiansyah Ginting, explained that the Imogiri Market was chosen as the location of the activity because many traders rarely prioritize routine health checks.

The busyness of trading from the early morning makes them tend to delay and even ignore the examination, although the risk of diseases such as high blood pressure or diabetes is quite high in this group.

“We hope that this activity can help traders detect the risk of disease early and encourage them to be more concerned with health,” he said.

In the implementation of activities, the KKN team cooperated with medical personnel from the local pharmacy and involved student volunteers.

The traders who attended were short but comprehensive medical services, ranging from measurement of blood pressure to direct consultation related to the results of their examination.

For some traders, this opportunity became their first experience checking health conditions after not being done for a long time.

In addition to physical examination, KKN students also provide education about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This education is packaged in simple language so that it is easily understood by all circles.

The material presented includes how to maintain stamina in the middle of long working hours, choose nutritious food, adjust the rest time, to the importance of drinking enough water.

This health check activity is part of the Mercu Buana University community service program which is routinely held every year.

Through this program, students not only learn to apply the knowledge they have gained on campus, but also practice interacting and directly understanding the needs of the community.

Meidiansyah emphasized that the main purpose of this program not only provided a moment of health services, but also fostering sustainable awareness among traders of the importance of maintaining health.

“If there is awareness, the next step will be easier, for example routine control to health facilities or start regulating diet,” he added.

A positive response from traders made the KKN 128 team optimistic to develop similar activities in other regions. They hope that cooperation between universities, medical personnel, and market communities can continue to be established for the creation of a healthy, safe and productive work environment.

In the midst of a dense trading activity, simple activities like this are a reminder that health is the main capital to work.
