Head of PBJ Gunungkidul Submitted Early Pension, the Regent immediately signed

KABARJAWA – In the midst of the storm of corruption cases of information and communication technology (ICT) procurement projects worth Rp21 billion in the Education Office, Head of the Procurement of Goods and Services (PBJ) of the Gunungkidul Regional Secretariat with the initials TA chose a shocking step, submitting early retirement.

This step immediately draws public attention. TA, an echelon official who has been calm and closed, officially submitted an early pension submission letter because of his alleged involvement in the Corruption Scandal Procurement of ICT with the 2022 APBD.

The Gunungkidul Regency Government did not wait long. Gunungkidul Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih immediately signed a retirement decree (SK) at his own request.

Head of the Regional Personnel, Education and Training Agency (BKPPD) Gunungkidul, Iskandar, ensured that the decree was active and valid as of August 1, 2025.

“TA submits a retirement at his own request and it is valid regulatory because the person concerned has fulfilled all administrative requirements,” said Iskandar, Monday (4/8/2025).

Iskandar also emphasized that his party did not find violations of procedures in the submission.

“Early retirement may be submitted as long as the age and service periods are met. And TA has served more than 30 years as ASN,” he explained.

Speculation that arises

However, this sudden decision actually triggered various speculations. Many people consider that TA is trying to secure the status of ASN before its legal status changes. This allegation was getting stronger by the statement of his attorney, R Intan Manggala.

According to Intan, his client did not reveal the detailed reasons behind the submission of early retirement, but he considered the decision as a preventive measure.

“If it has been named as a suspect, ASN can no longer submit early retirement. Therefore, I suspect my client tries to save his retirement rights before his status changes,” said Intan.

Furthermore, Intan said that TA only had the remaining term of office for 1.5 years.

“Instead of losing a 30 -year retirement rights due to legal status, it is better to sacrifice the remaining positions,” he said.

Meanwhile, DIY Regional Police investigators continue to investigate this ICT procurement corruption case. The jumbo budget worth Rp21 billion originating from the 2022 APBD was allegedly misused through the practice of mark-up, tender engineering, and fictitious procurement.

Investigators have summoned and used TA intensively. A number of sources said TA was cooperative and had given information twice. In addition to TA, investigators also examined a number of parties from procurement partners to education office officials.

However, until now TA’s legal status is still a witness. Even so, a number of people believe that the position of TA is very crucial in project decision making, especially because the position of PBJ Head of Head of PBJ is in a strategic position in the entire process of procurement of goods and services.
