OJK Holding Hackathon Roadshow in Jogja, Encourages Digitalization of National Financial Institutions

KABARJAWA – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to kill efforts to accelerate the transformation of the digital economy.

Thursday, July 17, 2025, OJK took Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) to hold a Hackathon 2025 roadshow at the OJK Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

OJK invited more than 70 participants consisting of students, web3 developers, financial industry players, creative economy practitioners, strategic partners, to the blockchain community.

The atmosphere of the Yogyakarta OJK Office that morning was full of young enthusiasm for innovators. They are present bringing new hopes to conquer the challenges of digitalizing the financial services sector.

The Head of OJK DIY, Eko Yunianto, stood in front of the participants in a loud voice. He asserted that Hackathon 2025 became an exploration space for creative ideas that would encourage the acceleration of Indonesia’s digital economic and financial transformation.

“Through this Hackathon, we want to give birth to innovations that can accelerate the transformation of digital economy and finance. We want to encourage sustainable economic growth, in line with the government’s Asta Cita program,” said Eko.

Eko explained, the development of the digital financial sector will increase the inclusion and financial literacy of the community. He also stressed the importance of financial market efficiency and strengthening Indonesia’s competitiveness amidst the swift flow of global digitalization.

The Head of the OJK Digital Financial Innovation Group, Ludy Arlianto, added a statement that struck the young generation.

Ludy stressed that Indonesia needs superior human resources who are not only looking for work, but are also able to create new jobs.

“We want students not only to look for work, but also create jobs. This is the first step in a long journey to build an adaptive and inclusive financial ecosystem,” Ludy said.

The atmosphere was more alive when the Executive Director of the Indonesian Blockchain Association, Asih Karnengsih, expressed his appreciation.

He claimed to be proud of OJK, BI, and Kemenparekraf to provide space for innovators to carve their best work.

“I am very grateful for the implementation of Hackathon at the OJK office. This is a golden opportunity to understand the real challenges in the financial sector. We hope that a solution will be born that answers the needs of the industry and opening new jobs,” said Asih

Competition theme

He explained the theme of the Hackathon 2025 competition. This year, Hackathon carries two major themes, namely Empowering The Future: Innovating Digital Services and Financial Solutions for Inclusive Growth and Resilient Economy and Creative Economy Acceleration through Digital Innovation and Decentralization.

The two themes indicated that OJK’s determination to embrace every innovation that was able to answer the needs of the community and the financial industry in the era of the digital revolution.

Hackathon Roadshow in Yogyakarta presents a number of important figures, including the Deputy for Digital Creative and Technology of Kemenparekraf Muhammad Neil El Himam, Head of BI DIY Representative Sri Darmadi Sudibyo, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology Yogyakarta Restyandito, and Head of Centrino UKDW Haryo Dimasto Kristianto.

At the end of the event, the committee announced that the Hackathon competition was open to the general public, both professionals and students, with registration from June 5 to July 26, 2025.

Winners will be announced at the Digital Economy and Finance Festival (FEDKI) and the Indonesia Fintech Summit and Expo (IFSE) on 30 October – 1 November 2025 in Jakarta.

Through Hackathon 2025, OJK, BI, and Kemenparekraf carved a new history. They lit a torch of digitalization of national financial institutions to face the challenges of the times with unlimited innovations. (EF Linangkung)
